HELP?
But help is at hand I have asked (well am going to ask two gentlemen darters who helped last year to bale me
out again this year) Scotty Telford & Bob Hall simply with 69 dart players playing in the summer league it takes a bit
of co-ordinating the score cards = league tables etc. The ladies leagues have Mary Walker co-ordinating them and that is a
great help all I have to do now is try to make sure the league tables are updated. You will see that if someone has not turned
up , everyone in that league gets the maximum points so you will see that if you had to play a player on the 20 th July and
we now know they are not going to show up you have automatically got the maximum points. A big thank you to John McCaw and Tommy Smith for entering the competition this helped to cover
some of the no shows all in all only 6 players have had to call off so a big thanks to all who have entered. All the best to everyone in trying to qualifying remember the top 4 in each group make the final.
Prize funds stands at the moment
LADIES CHAMPION £50/R-UP £30/SEMI 2 X £15/QUARTERS 4 X £10
MENS CHAMPION £100/R-UP £50/SEMI 2 X £20/QUARTER 4 X £15/ FINALISTS 12 X £8
With more raffles this should increase a bit more £501 is in the kitty just now and there are a few players who have
not paid their entry fee yet plus more raffles to come so this is not a time for deep pockets and short hands
Cheers Jim M
The Magnificent Fourteen
Yes there were 14 magnificent dart players at the Breich Club for the fourth Grand Prix competition 13 players
and Mr Rab Wilson the man who put up the £100 first prize. Yes even with such a poor turn out this man kept his word and gave
out the first prize BUT where it has to be asked were the local players maybe the thought of playing against players who try
week in and week out was too much for them we had 13 players in attendance who had entered previous Grand Prix competitions.
But the Breich players were nowhere to be seen sad but true we have in this county
publicans/landlords who are willing to sponsor darts but the players don’t turn up and then these same players bemoan
when there are no tournaments to enter. In the last four tournaments £950 pounds has been paid out in prize money and with
four more competitions to go it looks like this total could be over £2,000 not bad for a small county like West Lothian but
for this to happen next year players will have to support these competitions won’t they?
Players in attendance Ross Burnside/Bob Hall/Mick Burke/Scott Begley/Chris Forsyth/Mick Rice/John Grant/Shug
Rice/Jim McMillan/Gordon Bruce/Craig Agnew/Jim Mitchell/Frank Quinn and of course Rab Wilson who sponsored the event.
Top games were a superb 11 dart game from Jim McMillan 140-140-180 41 he also knocked in a 15 dart game as well.
Mick Burke had a 14+16 dart games to his score card as well. Scott Begley had a cracking 96 finish. Mick Rice hit 15+19 dart
games plus a 120 finish. Chris Forsyth a tidy 17 dart game. Mitchell knocked in a 20 dart leg .Craig Agnew rolled in with
16+18+19+20 dart games and a 120 finish long with an 84 shot out for good measure. Frank Quinn had a brace of 19 dart games
to his credit but without a doubt the Champion and man on form Gordon Bruce had 15+2X16+17+2X18+20 dart legs plus 103+100 Finishes on his way to claim the first prize of £100. A gallant runner up was Craig Agnew who at
2-2 in the final had one dart at double 18 to take the title but when given the chance Gordon made no mistakes and collected
the first prize.
CHECK IT OUT
LOOKING FOR INFORMATION ON WHAT HAS HAPPENED
IN THE LAST FEW YEARS THEN TRY THE ARCHIVES SECTION. EACH MONTH FROM THAT YEAR IS IN ORDER AS IT HAPPEND .
SUMMER LEAGUE HAS STARTED
But what has happened to all the players who entered their names into the draw! 63 players
have confirmed their places but what of the others very little word has filtered back and the league tables have to stand
as they are to little time to re-draw them as the summer league only lasts 7 weeks maximum. Players who have not turned up
by next week will have all the points awarded to the other players in the leagues I know of a few who have decided not
to play and that is fine but if you entered could you please let me know if your not coming! I realise
that Mick Burke is still playing out his winter league so that is understandable Danny Coffey has given up darts for snooker
so I am told it is the other players who have played in the past that I am wondering about.Any information would
be welcome cheers.
THE DUCK HAS BEEN BROKEN
Big Frank Panama Begley has knocked in a maximum not that I ever told anyone that he was
the only player in team last season not to hit a maximum! (but why did he have to hit it against me)
Also on the maximum trail has seen The Pirates Davie Smith along with Old Man Mitchell
YOUNG BLOODS SHOW THE WAY
Shaun Young Gun Hanlon from the Pumpherston Jacks sent the pulses racing with a cracking 86
finish 18-18 bull to put County Star Jamie Bishop on to the back foot also knocking in a very tasty 111 was Chris Bug
Mitchell of the Cawburn Gypsys.
Also playing superb darts were Scottish Internationals Arran Edwards & Marc Campbell who
have both just returned from Ireland a few weeks ago where they represented Scotland in the Friendship Cup in the under 18's
internationals.
MAXIMUM HITTERS/TOP CHECK OUTS & FASTEST
GAMES LEAGUE TABLES. (updated for new season just started)
GENTLEMAN. WARRIOR. AND GRUMPY.
John two hands Hanlon from deepest darkest Mid Calder made it through to the last 16 of the Masters a terrific
effort this being his first Scottish final he did everyone in the county proud on the way to the last 16 he knocked in a cracking
maximum(aren’t they always) plus a 14 +20 dart games. The Gabby Cabby Chris Forsyth would have made his Celtic ancestors
proud with a real fighting display making it through to the second round top check out being a real good 85 kill in two darts.
Unfortunately Grumpy otherwise known as the Old Man Mitchell took defeat in his usual good natured manner! All that can be
said was he did manage an 18 dart leg One day when he remembers to finish on
a double he might just win a game!
